It’s too bad GM put morons in charge of engineering for the C5. If C5 owners haven’t had to replace their primary fuel pump they are in for a shock when they do. I will not recommend a C5 to anyone due to the many stupid designs on the C5 such as the Torque tube , fuel tanks , Oil pressure sensor location, cheap Harmonic balancer , electronics under the battery and others. I bought a C5 with 7600 miles on it in 2012 and before I put 400 miles on it on a trip the fuel pump quit. We were 250 miles from home so it was towed to a local dealer. 2000 dollars later it was fixed. Surprise ,surprise !!

Great video! Looking to put these in our C5 Z. I'm 5'8" - would you recommend he A4's shaved? Car is being tracked frequently so helmet is on a lot of the time. I have the stock seat somewhat raised as it is.

What's sad is now the calipers are almost 500+ a piece as of June 2024. Crazy how much they have skyrocketed in price.

Hello, can anyone tell me what that wire is for? It's at 6:45 in the bottom of the large storage compartment. I've been trying to find out, but I have no idea. I thought it should be plugged into something, but I couldn't find anything.

i've pumped air with a bicycle pump through the feed hose at the fuel tank and got very little fuel leaking from the filter.

Is there any special way to remove the pulse regulator? Or does it just pull apart? Cheers!

with those short plugs the spark begins inside the cavity and should mean slightly longer flame propagation so it would need slightly more advance. Mechanically it puts twice as much stress on the aluminum threads and these engines are also pretty high in torque. there is also less heat dissipation through the treads but I don’t think it’s a problem

Remember there usually is left over fluid hiding in places in a trans, so the max fill is usually just the first one and less for replacing fluid

Reinstalling the pan with gasket, I found that by putting one bolt in on each side, that the other holes all automatically lined up easily for me as i placed it into the position. and loosely screw them in as you go just a rotation or two as you add all the bolts, making sure not to pinch or snag any part of the gasket. then make sure gasket is sitting nice all around as you snug it up before torqueing. My Range Rover had 23 bolts, its a GMC trans so same style over all

From your first video I got an impression that brake hoses and brake master cylinder went totally empty. Service manual asks not to Do it. I followed your video instructions. I am wondering now, should I bleed the master cylinder first and after that each brake individually ?

Great info. I cleaned mine for the 1st time today (6/24). My 2003 C5 is a total garage queen so 2 out of 3 udders on the driver's side were clean. The 3rd udder had a few leaves in it. It is the same size as the other 2. It was a little tricky to get it re-installed. I haven't done the passenger side yet. 8-(

On my 1986 (w/Z51 suspension), there are a lot of differences. The rear shocks only have 2 18mm bolts. One on the bottom and one and on the top. And you only have to remove the one 18mm on the bottom and then slide it free. On the front, there is no panel to remove to get at the 5mm socket on top of the shock. I'm simply making a 1.5" hole in the top of the panel so I have access to the top of the shock. I'll use a rubber grommet to fill the hole when I am done.

What happens with the mileage on the old cluster, since it’s analog? Do you have to transfer it over to the new one? Is the new one dialed into what your mileage was?

Ive done mines last week. Time consuming, but rewarding in the end when done! Way better than hearing what it cost to be replaced at a local shop!

Did you upgrade the knuckles? During the test / design phase of the C6 ZR1, GM engineers discovered notable flexing in the knuckle, which prompted them to manufacture a "beefier" knuckle and that was the upgraded knuckle from 2009 forward. It is a different part#. There's two corvette forum message strings with all the details and pictures.
